One of the eligibility conditions for these less favoured areas is that the notional livestock density must be not less than a defined minimum, unless the Secretary of State exercises his or her discretion to allow a lower notional livestock density. "Notional livestock density" means the number of livestock units per hectare of the claimant's eligible forage area, calculated in accordance with Schedule 1 to these Regulations.
