The Conservator of Forests shall function as Registrar and may appoint deputy registrars and inspectors. Description of all timber marks registered and allotted under these Regulations and the names and addresses of the owners shall be entered into the Register of Timber Marks. Regulations 5 provides for application; regulation 6 for renewal of licences. Every registered mark shall be made with a hammer and placed on both ends of a log and be at least two inched high. The Register may at discretion allot a mark or refuse an application for registration of a mark or transfer of a mark. Regulation 1 prescribes offences. A registered mark upon a log shall be prima facie evidence of ownership of the timber by the owner of such mark.
