This Law enters into force 3 months after its publication in the Official Gazette.
Résumé

The aim of Law is to regulate the sea navigation and trade. This Law is composed of 6 Sections divided into 422 articles. Section 1 deals with the following matters: (a) terms and definitions; (b) general provisions; and (c) identification, nationality, registration, ownership, control and documents of the ship. Section 2 provides for the privilege and pawning rights and confiscation of the ship. Section 3 pertains to the following: (a) ship-owner and supplier of equipment; (b) captain; (c) crew; (d) regulation the sea works; (e) sea work contract; and (f) security, order and discipline on the ship. Section 4 addresses the following: (a) ship rent; (b) sea transportation contract; (c) transporter liability; (d) transportation contract of persons; and (e) ship guiding and towing. Section 5 refers to the following: (a) sea accidents; (b) collision and clash; (c) help, rescue and salvaging; and (d) common sea losses. Section 6 provides for the following: (a) sea insurance; (b) insurance contracts; (c) obligations of the insurance company; (d) obligations of the insured; (e) damage settlement; (f) ship insurance; and (g) good insurance.
