Entry into force notes: This Decree will come into force on 1 January 1998.

Résumé: This Decree applies to all ships in the Norwegian economic zone and the open sea near the Norwegian coast including Svalbard and Jan Mayen. Section 2 contains definitions. Section 3 formulates rules and criteria for various measures which the pollution control authorities may take in case of pollution by ships. Section 4 provides for consultation with other States and warning systems. (5 sections)
