Résumé Article 1 of the above-mentioned Ordinance establishes that the Central Commission for Biological Safety shall review and evaluate safety issues under the provisions of the Genetic Technology Act, give recommendations and advise the federal government and the Länder (states) in security-related issues concerning genetic engineering. The text, consisting of 18 Articles (Articles 17 is deleted), deals with the following issues: tasks and responsibilities of the Commission, appointment of members, participation of others, chairman and vice-chairman, reports, experts, meeting of the commissioners, decision-making, collaboration of competent authorities, report of activities, rules of procedure.
