Résumé

The present Regulations are made under the Arctic Waters Pollution Prevention Act. In particular, the Regulations authorizes Dome Petroleum Limited of Calgary, Alberta, or Canadian Marine Drilling Limited of Calgary, Alberta, or both, may deposit oil in that portion of the Arctic Ocean northwest of McKinley Bay for the purpose of how successful burning would be as a countermeasure against a Beaufort Sea blowout under first year ice and to optimize burning techniques of oil and gas released from such a blowout. However, section 5 establishes that Dome Petroleum Limited shall remedy any damage to property or the environment resulting from any deposit of oil made pursuant within a reasonable period of time after completion of the related project of study or research. The text consists of 5 sections.
