These Rules do not apply to: infectious, pathological, radioactive, chemical and general healthcare waste. The Rules aim at minimising waste production and therefore limiting environmental pollution. The Rules focus on: management of pharmaceutical waste and use of waste generator; minimisation of emissions and conservation of energy during the use of waste generator; packaging and labelling of pharmaceutical waste; handling and collection of pharmaceutical waste; storage and transportation of pharmaceutical waste; ban on the import of pharmaceutical waste and limitation on its export; pharmaceutical waste treatment and disposal methods.
