Every chemical tanker shall comply with the Code as specified by these Regulations. A Certificate of Fitness shall be issued after satisfactory survey by the Director-General of Transport. The Regulations also concern detention of ships and define offences. Where a chemical tanker is constructed or adapted to carry chemicals under the International Code for the Construction and Equipment of Ships Carrying Liquefied Gases in Bulk (IGC Code) and chemicals mentioned in the IBC Code, the IGC Code shall prevail.
