Resumen

This Act amends 27 PNC § 1208 and 1211 with respect to enforcement Regulations that may be promulgated by the Minister and to establish a revolving fund within the National Treasury known as the Giant Clam Seed Sustainability Project Fund. The Fund shall be used for the following purposes: (a) to provide assistance to clam farmers; (b) to promote and increase the production of cultured clams in order to reduce pressure on wild clam stocks; (c) to restock wild clam populations in Palau’s reefs; and (d) to increase the population of wild giant clams and preserve the species. Fees received as a result of the processing of the Bureau of Marine Resources Marine Export Declaration Form and related inspections, the issuance of endangered species import/export certificates according to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species, and the production of giant clam seeds distributed to the Republic’s cultured clam farmers, shall be deposited into the Fund.
