Section 2 includes definitions of terms within the text including Director, described as the 'director of primary production'. A permit, issued by the Director is required to import, export or introduce from the sea any species that are listed on the schedule (sect. 5). There are penal provisions concerning those who obstruct the execution of this Act or commit an offence under the Act. The Minister may make rules providing for the issue of permits or provisions relating to the purposes of this Act. The Act contains a Schedule listing the species that are relevant to the provisions of this Act.
