Part II of the Act concerns: governmental preparation and publication of the Integrated National Electricity Policy and Strategic Implementation Plan, in order to: promote the development of the electric power sector and the sustainable utilisation of coal, natural gas, nuclear substances and renewable energy sources; improve energy distribution in rural areas; increase public private partnerships for provision of access to electricity to all areas. This Part also concerns supervisory powers of the Minister and functions of the Minister responsible for energy and electric power, including: promoting the use of biomass for electricity generation; promote the development and exploitation of conventional and renewable energy sources, by harnessing opportunities offered under clean development mechanism and other mechanisms including carbon credit trading.
