Entry into force notes

This Decree enters into force on the date of its publication.

Resumen

This Decree creates the National Commission to Fight against Desertification (CNCD). The CNCD is responsible for: monitor and evaluate the management of combating desertification, recovering degraded areas and mitigating the effects of drought; promote the integration of poverty eradication strategies into efforts to combat desertification and land degradation and mitigate the effects of drought; propose strategic actions to combat desertification and land degradation; monitor and evaluate the execution of the Brazilian Action Plan to Combat Desertification and Mitigate the Effects of Drought, propose measures necessary to achieve its objectives and present proposals for its improvement; improve legislation related to desertification, recovering degraded areas, mitigating the effects of drought and the National Policy for Combating Desertification and Mitigating the Effects of Drought; propose measures for compliance, by the federal Executive Branch, with the principles and guidelines for implementing the National Policy to Combat Desertification and Mitigate the Effects of Drought, encourage the decentralization of the execution of actions and ensure the participation of interested sectors; identify the need and propose the creation or modification of the instruments necessary for the full implementation of the principles and guidelines of the National Policy for Combating Desertification and Mitigating the Effects of Drought; It is stimulate interinstitutional and international cooperation for the implementation of the principles and guidelines of the National Policy to Combat Desertification and Mitigation of the Effects of Drought and the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification in the Country. ​
