Resumen

This Consolidation of Laws on Labour (CLT) establishes the norms that regulate the individual and collective labour relations. CLT is the result of many years of work - from the beginning of the Estado Novo until 1943 aiming to meet the needs for worker protection, within a context of "regulatory state". In particular, the CLT regulates labour relations, both urban and rural. Since its publication, it has undergone several changes, aiming to adapt the text to the nuances of modernity. Despite this, it remains the main instrument for regulating labour relations and protecting workers. Its main subjects are: Worker Registration/Employment Card; Administrative issues; Special Categories of Workers; Protection of Women's Work; Individual Employment Contracts; Union Organization; Collective Agreements; Oversight; Labour Justice and Process. The provisions that regulate men's work are applicable to women's work, insofar as they do not conflict with the special protection established by Chapter 3 on protection of women's work, which defines and regulates their conditions of work.
