The Order came into force on 1 September 1999.
Resumen

The present Order has been adopted in implementation of the Conservation of the Environment Enactment 1996, which makes provision with a view to ensuring the conservation of natural resources. The Order consists of seven paragraphs and two schedules. In particular, to undertake any of the activities listed out in the first schedule, a report must be previously submitted to the Director of the State Department of Environmental Conservation in order to obtain the approval required. The report shall deal with the impact of the activities on the environment and on the sustainable utilization, preservation and management of the natural resources of the State of Sabah. The prescribed activities defined under the First Schedule cover activities relating to the development of agricultural estates or plantation, forestry (such as timber extraction or felling), fisheries and activities which may pollute inland water or affect sources of water supply.
