Resumen The present Ordinance regulates waste disposal in the Canton of Solothurn, by way of implementing also federal regulations on the subject matter. Its aim is to prevent or reduce waste; to sort, collect, transport and treat waste. However, it does not apply to radioactive waste material and to the disposal of animal carcasses. The main principle is that waste should be avoided whenever possible, and whenever possible a part or the whole of it should be reused, and the unusable part should be disposed of in a friendly manner to the environment. The local authorities shall provide information and expertise on the prevention of domestic waste, its treatment, organic waste, special waste from constructions, etc. To such end the cantonal Environment Office shall collaborate with the local authorities. It is prohibited to throw away or to leave waste in inappropriate places.
