In particular, the Regulations authorize Norcor Engineering and Research Limited, of Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories, to deposit oil in that portion of the arctic Ocean known as Hecla-griper Bay, north of Melville Island in the Northwest Territories for the purpose of a project of study or research to determine the behaviour of the oil in and under multi-year ice. Section 5 impose on Norcor Engineering and Research Limited to remedy any damage to property or the environment resulting from any deposit of oil within a reasonable period of time after completion of the project of study or research.
