Resumen

These Rules, made under section 20 of the Animal Diseases Act, make provision for the control of the importation and exportation of animals. They also provide with respect to the protection of pigs from diseases, the movement of animals, carcasses, hides and skins, and animal products such as butter, ghee, milk or blood from an infected area, the cleansing of cattle and the importation of "biological products", i.e. animal semen, vaccines and bacterial products. No animal or carcass, or any part of any animal or carcass, shall be imported, and no cattle shall be exported, except with a permit issued by or under the authority of the Commissioner of Livestock and Entomology. Imported animals may be examined and quarantined. Every person who keeps or intends to keep pigs for export shall apply to a veterinary officer of his or her area to be registered as a pig producer. No person may export any pig or pig products unless (s)he is a registered pig producer and holds a valid export licence issued by a veterinary officer.
