Resumen

This Subpart of the International Fisheries Regulations implements the recommendations of the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) for the conservation and management of tuna and tuna-like species in the Atlantic Ocean and of the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC) for the conservation and management of highly migratory fish resources in the Eastern Tropical Pacific Ocean, so far as they affect vessels and persons subject to the jurisdiction of the United States. An importer entering for consumption fish or fish products regulated under this Subpart from any ocean area into the United States, or an exporter exporting or re-exporting such product, must possess a valid trade permit issued under this Subpart by NMFS. Permit holder shall have specified reporting and recordkeeping requirements. Fish and products which are subject to permitting, documentation, reporting, and recordkeeping requirements include (1) Bluefin tuna, (2) Southern bluefin tuna, (3) Frozen bigeye tuna, (4) Swordfish, and (5) Shark fins. NMFS shall monitor the importation of fish or fish products regulated under this Subpart into the United States and may designate ports for such purpose.
