Abstract These Regulations provide for the long-term protection of marine mammals by: prohibiting or regulating activities connected with whale and seal watching; prohibiting or regulating activities in the vicinity of whales and seals; prescribing conditions for whale watching tour permits, whale swim tour permits and seal tour permits; and prescribing minimum approach distances for whales and seals. The Regulations further prescribe the fees payable for the issue of whale watching tour permits, whale swim tour permits and seal tour permits.
