The purpose is to provide protection for cetaceans (all species of whales, dolphins and porpoises) in marine waters of Niue in accordance with international law. The Regulations define various offences in relation with killing, having in possession or exportation of cetaceans and allows the Government to approve the issuance of a permit for the purpose of non-lethal research intended for the conservation of cetaceans.
