Abstract

Regulations to implement provisions of the Water Resources Act 1982. They make further provision with respect to various matters regulated by the Act including: applications for water use permits and water investigation permits, fees for permits, fees for water use and fees for discharge of waste, forms, water quality standards and water pollution. Water quality standards and other standards for water shall be in accordance with Schedule 4. Any discharges to, or use of, water must not cause a lowering of water quality below the prescribed standards, subject to the allowance for mixing of wastes with the receiving water. The portion of the receiving waters that may be allowed for mixing of wastes (the mixing zone) shall be determined by the Water resources Board on a case by case basis in accordance with regulation 7.
