Abstract

The present Regulations are made under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act. Section 65 of the afore-mentioned Act mandates the Ministers of the Environment and Health to compile a list to be known as the «Virtual Elimination List». The Ministers must specify the level of quantification for each substance on the List and, having done so, must prescribe the quantity or concentration of the substance that may be released into the environment either alone or in combination with any other substance from any source or type of source.
