A person who is not a veterinarian shall not issue a veterinary prescription. A person who is not a veterinarian, pharmacist or person permitted under regulations, shall not dispense a veterinary medicinal product subject to a prescription. The Minister may make regulations in relation to the prescription and dispensing of veterinary medicinal products, medicated feed or human medicinal products if prescribed for an animal or a class of animal. The Part also requires the Minister to establish and maintain a database (“national database”) on which veterinary prescriptions and dispensing of veterinary prescriptions shall be recorded.
