Abstract

This Act provides for the regulation of utility services and for this purpose defines the functions and powers of the Fair Trading Commission to establish principles of the charging of rates for utility services and standards of services. “Utility services” includes the distribution and supply of water and sewerage services. The Commission may with the approval of the Minister make regulations prescribing any matter or thing that is required by this Act to be prescribed. The Act prescribes various rules applicable to the provision of services and provides for a complaint and appeal procedure.
