It also creates the National Standards Council, which shall function as governing body of the Bureau. The Bureau shall, among other things, formulate national standard specifications for commodities and codes of practice as may from time to time be required and promote standardization. The Minister shall appoint a director of the Bureau who shall appoint standards inspectors. The Act sets out procedures for the adoption of standards.
