Subject Wild species & ecosystems Keyword Reptiles Turtles Offences/penalties Protection of species Geographical area Americas, Caribbean, Latin America and the Caribbean, Small Island Developing States Abstract Any person who: (a) catches or takes, or attempts to catch or take, or causes to be caught or taken any sea or river turtle in specified periods, or any sea or river turtle under twenty pounds of weight, or; (b) slaughters, buys, or sells or has in his possession any turtle in specified periods, or; (c) takes or attempts to take turtle eggs in certain periods, or; (d) buys, sells, or has in his possession such eggs in periods specified, shall be guilty of an offence (sect. 3). The police may arrest suspected persons and turtles or eggs may be seized and forfeited. Nets used shall also be seized by the police and forfeited. (6 sections) Full text English
