Section 3 provides for the establishment of fishing reserves for purposes of this Act. No person shall dive or fish for trochus shells in any fishing reserve without a licence issued by the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries under section upon advice of the Director of Marine Resources. In addition, use of diving machines requires a licence. Such licences shall not be transferable. No person shall take any trochus shell from a reserve which measures less than two-and-halve inches. Shells caught shall be brought immediately ashore for inspection by an Inspector appointed under the present Act. Also possession or sale of undersized trochus shells I prohibited. The Minister may from time to time declare all or any of the reserves to be open for a specified periods. All other periods shall be deemed to be close season. Harvest limits shall be established for each reserve. (26 sections) Full text English
