Abstract

This regulation implements the Transport Operations (Marine Pollution) Act 1995. It set requirements for the prevention of pollution by oil (Part 2), by noxious liquid substances in bulk (Part 3), by packaged harmful substances (Part 4) and by garbage (Part 5). Part 6 deals with keeping records of transfer operations, Part 7 specifies reporting requirements and Part 8 spells out the functions devolved to the boards of each port authority under the Act. Part 9 concerns samples taken for analysis while Part 10 contains general provisions. The regulation is completed by four schedules: the text and annexes of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, recordable operations and events, oil-like substances and dictionary.
