Abstract

This Ordinance implements provisions of Council Regulation (EEC) No. 259/93 on the supervision and control of shipments of waste within, into and out of the European Community and appoints the States of Guernsey Health and Social Services Department (the Board) as the competent authority of dispatch and destination and of transit in relation to Guernsey for the purposes of the Regulation. The Ordinance defines duties of the Board in respect of return and recovery of waste. The Board shall prepare and submit to the States for approval a management plan for the importation or exportation of waste in accordance with Article 7 of Council Directive 75/442/EEC. The Ordinance also defines offences.
