Abstract

The present Act implements the Council Regulation (EC) No. 2173/2005 on the establishment of a FLEGT licensing scheme for imports of timber into the European Community of 20 December 2005. Article 1 establishes that the Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food is entrusted with the enforcement of the afore-mentioned Council Regulation. The text consists of 10 articles as follows: Scope and assignment of tasks (1); Powers of intervention (2); Participation of the custom authorities (3); Exchange of data (4); Ordinance Authorisations(5); Information, toleration and notification obligations (6); fine regulations (7); Penal provisions (8); Confiscation (9); Entry into force (10).
