Abstract These Regulations, made by the Minister under section 228 of the Merchant Shipping Act, concern maritime training conduction, in compliance with the Seafarers’ Training, Certification and Watch-keeping (STCW) Code. Matters and topics covered by these Regulations include: training approval by the Director; minimum duration of the course and maximum number of candidates permitted for each course; training programmes; competences and knowledge of a maritime training provider; guidelines issued by the Ministry for the conduct of training, as specified under the Code; inspection of the facilities, training and assessment arrangements, methods and materials of the training provider; offences in case of misconduct.
