Abstract

This Fisheries (Amendment) Law 2022 and shall be read together with the Fisheries Act 1935, that is the basic Law. The amendment concerns the purposes of implementing article 6 of the Protocol to the Agreement on the withdrawal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community, and of that Protocol on the Sovereign Base Areas of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Cyprus. Therefore, article 2 of the basic Law is amended by adding the following term: Protocol; Withdrawal Agreement. The new article 14 of the basic Law provides that for the purposes of implementing Article 6 of the Protocol, the provisions of this Law relating to the application and execution of the provisions of European Union Law on fisheries included in Title III of Part Three of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, as well as the acts enacted on the basis of these provisions, apply to and within the Sovereign Base Areas of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Cyprus.
