These Regulations, made by the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine under section 36 of the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013, set out the conditions under which the docking of a dog’s tail is permitted. Such operation is only permitted when done by a veterinary practitioner or a veterinary nurse (within the meaning of the Veterinary Practice Act 2005) on certain dogs and in certain circumstances.
