Abstract

These Regulations prescribe a system for classifying the quality of inland freshwaters which need protection or improvement in order to support fish life and define functions of the of the Environment in this respect. The classifications SW ("salmonid waters") and CW ("cyprinid waters") and the criteria for those classifications set out in the Schedule shall apply for classifying inland freshwaters which need protection. The Regulations also provide for pollution reduction programmes.
