Surface and groundwater monitoring Programme for 2022. Country/Territory Montenegro Document type Regulation Date 2021 Source FAO, FAOLEX Subject Water Keyword Water quality standards Groundwater Surface water Monitoring Policy/planning Geographical area Europe, Europe and Central Asia, Mediterranean, Southern Europe Abstract This Programme, based on the provisions of the Montenegrin Water Law, provides for surface and groundwater monitoring tasks and actions that are planned for the year 2022. In order to use and protect surface and groundwater, qualitative and quantitative parameters of surface and groundwater are monitored as indicated in this text. The monitoring program includes monitoring of chemical and ecological status of surface waters and monitoring of chemical and quantitative groundwater status. The surface water monitoring programme consists of supervisory, operational and research monitoring and contains: a list of surface water bodies for which chemical and ecological status is determined, list of substances to be tested, methodologies for biological and hydromorphological elements of the ecological state, sampling points by coordinates in the national coordinate system, sampling method and hydromorphological monitoring programme. The groundwater monitoring programme consists of supervisory and operational monitoring and contains: a list of groundwater water bodies for which chemical and quantitative status is determined; list of surface water bodies that are natural or artificial; measuring points for monitoring chemical and quantitative status and their determination in the national coordinate system; determination of sampling depth and description of previous pumping, sampling techniques and equipment; annual plan of sampling frequencies and scope of analysis of chemical status parameters; sampling methods and analytical methods for chemical status parameters; a description of the conceptual model of groundwater bodies for which quantitative status is determined; a list of surface water bodies that are important for determining the quantitative status of groundwater; selection and description of parameters quantitative status monitoring; data processing and archiving; annual plan for the frequency of measurement of quantitative parameters.
