Abstract The purpose of the present Law is to guarantee the necessary conditions for a high quality viticulture in Styria in view of the common market guidelines on wine. The text – consisting of 22 articles – deals with the following aspects: definition of terms, regional wine register, establishment and running of the regional wine register, transmission of data, right to new plantations, ban on beginning of vintage, classification of grape varieties, regional wine reserves, monitoring of wine growing and penalties.
