Abstract

This Act makes miscellaneous amendments to various Acts, including the Water Act, 2016. The Water Act, 2016 is amended in section 37 by adding a subsection to section 37, section 74 (Licensing of water providers) and 85 (licensing if water services) excluding sea water for the purposes of salt extraction from the working of section 36 (permit required for a) any use of water from a water resource, except as provided by section 37; (b) the drainage of any swamp or other land; (c) the discharge of a pollutant into any water resource; and (d) any other purpose, to be carried out in or in relation to a water resource, which is prescribed by Regulations made under this Act to be a purpose for which a permit is required) or sections 74 and 85.
