Abstract This Act applies on the surface water, coastal waters and groundwater. The Act lays out provision for ownership of waters, and relevant permit and authorisation for use of waters including common use. The Act primarily renews the areas of sewage disposal, coastal and flood protection and the definition of water protection areas. The Act further extend the permission-free rights of use with regard to groundwater by the introduction of rainwater on residential properties and provides for rainwater management measures in the land use planning. The Act provides for waste water disposal concept and requirements for registering indirect discharges from commercial and non-commercial operations. Furthermore, the Act requires for introduction of substances that are not defined as waste water into sewage treatment plants.
