Abstract This Law is implementing the goals of the Federal Soil Protection Act (BBodSchG) for protection, preservation and restoration of soil. The Law requires for notification on existence of a harmful soil change or contaminated site on a property and accordingly collaboration of the owner of property with the authorities for conduct of investigation. The Law further lays out provisions for the scope of authority and responsibilities of the authority on taking action for soil protection measures. The text provides for cadastre and information system, data transfer, remediation plans, and compensation, experts and investigation bodies, soil protection authorities and administrative offences.
