Abstract This Act, consisting of 37 sections divided into eleven Parts, provides for the protection, conservation, rehabilitation and improvement of the environment, for the prevention and control of pollution, and promotion of sustainable development. In addition, it establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the Sindh Environmental Protection Council, entitled to: co-ordinate and supervise the enforcement of all the provisions relating to the environment in the Province; approve comprehensive provincial environmental and sustainable development policies and ensure their implementation within the framework of a conservation strategy and sustainable development plan; approve the Sindh Environmental Quality Standards; provide guidelines for the protection and conservation of species, habitats, and biodiversity and for the conservation of renewable and non-renewable resources; integrate principles and concerns of sustainable development into socio-economic and development policies, plans and programmes at the provincial, district and local levels; deal with inter-provincial and federal-provincial issues; provide guidelines for biosafety and for the use of genetically modified organisms; etc. Full text English Website www.sindhhighcourt.gov.pk References - Legislation Implemented by Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (Review of Initial Environmental Examination and Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations, 2014.
