Abstract These Regulations specify crabs, whelks and razorshells as molluscs or crustaceans in relation to which an order may be made under section 1(1) of the Sea Fisheries (Shellfish) Act 1967 for the establishment or improvement, and for the maintenance and regulation, of a fishery for shellfish. Section 1 gives the appropriate Minister the power to make orders for the purpose of establishment or improvement, and for maintenance and regulation of a fisheries for shellfish of one or more species specified in that section. Scallops and queens were specified for the purpose of section 1 of the 1967 Act by the Shellfish (Specification of Molluscs) Regulations 1987 (S.I. 1987/218).
