Abstract

These Regulations implement Regulation (EC) No. 1007/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council which allow the placing on the market of seal products only if the seal products result from specified traditional hunting or is conducted for the sole purpose of the sustainable management of marine resources and placed on the market on a non-profit basis. The Regulations also appoint the Secretary of State as the Competent Authority for the purpose of the EU Regulation.
