Abstract

The present Ordinance applies to navigable regional waterways in the Free State of Saxony, as well as to harbours and places of transhipment. Article 5 establishes that only vehicles complying with the federal safety instructions for ships as laid down in the Federal Inland Navigation Ordinance shall be allowed to circulate. When executing their duties concerning the security of traffic, water pollution, etc., inspectors of the said Office shall be empowered to board ships, to inspect them and to travel with them as long as necessary. The captain and other members of the crew shall have to cooperate with the inspectors. The text consisting of 17 articles deals with the following matters: sphere of application, competences, authorization to inspect, operating ships, log books, cruising speed, other limitations, operating small craft, lease of pleasure boats, exceptions and penalties.
