Abstract

The present Act introduces some amendments to the Saskatchewan Natural Resources Act (R.S.C. 1930, c. 41) which contains the Natural Resources Transfer Agreement (N.R.T.A.) whereby the Government of Canada agrees that provincial laws respecting game shall apply to the Indians within provincial boundaries in order to secure the continuance of the supply of game and fish for the support and subsistence of Indians. In particular, the present Act adds two sections to paragraph 26 of the afore-mentioned Agreement as follows: 1) Notwithstanding anything in the said Agreement contained, any expression therein contained which defines a date by reference to which the powers or rights of either of the parties are to be altered shall be read as referring to the 1st day of October, 1930, instead of to the 1st day of August in that year. 2) The Government of Canada will recommend to Parliament and the Government of the Province of Saskatchewan will recommend to the Legislature of the said Province such legislation as may be necessary to give effect to this Agreement.
