Abstract

This Resolution, issued by the Supreme Council for Environment, outlines the primary responsibilities of the Environmental Police in Kuwait. These include: (i) Monitoring the transportation of various types of waste, such as municipal, hazardous, emergency care, and urgent, to ensure proper disposal in designated locations; (ii) Enforcing Article 33 of the Environmental Law, which strictly prohibits the disposal of garbage or waste anywhere other than the designated containers; (iii) Overseeing compliance with environmental requirements set by the Environment Public Authority for the camping season, and ensuring adherence to designated sites for this purpose; (iv) Monitoring and regulating the extraction of quarry materials in accordance with Article No. 44 of the Environmental Protection Law and its Regulations; (v) Exercising control over vehicles emitting exhaust emissions and enforcing compliance with environmental requirements outlined in the Environmental Protection Law; (vi) Monitoring compliance with Article 100 of the Environmental Protection Act, specifically related to safeguarding biodiversity, particularly endangered wild organisms; (vii) Verifying adherence to fishing regulations in the Kuwait Bay area. Additional responsibilities encompass: (i) Supervising pastures within designated areas; (ii) Enforcing the ban on smoking advertising in accordance with the Environmental Protection Law; (iii) Ensuring respect for protected areas.
