Abstract

These Regulations prohibit the sale of dried fruit (as defined) for human consumption produced in or imported into South Africa and placed on the domestic market that do not meet quality and packaging standards as prescribed by these Regulations. The Regulations also define quality grades of dried fruit and prescribe quality standards for each grade, prescribe rules relative to packing and labelling of dried fruit and make provision for sampling, testing and inspection of dried fruits. Specific quality standards are prescribed for: dried deciduous fruit; dried tropical fruit; dried vine fruit; dried fruit mixes; dates, figs, mixed and other dried fruits, tomatoes, and fruits combined with other food.
