Abstract These Regulations aim to strengthen the protection of drinking water sources, improve drinking-water quality, ensure drinking water safety, protect public health and safety, and promote coordinated and sustainable development of economy and society in Shanghai Municipality. These Regulations are formulated in accordance with the Law of the People's Republic of China on Prevention and Control of Water Pollution and the Water Law of the People's Republic of China in the light of the actual circumstances of this Municipality. The Law is divided into 5 Chapters: General provisions (I); Protection of drinking water sources (II); Supervision and administration (III); Legal liabilities (IV); Supplementary provisions (V).
