These Regulations entered into force on 5 June 2005.
Abstract

The purpose of these Regulations is to prevent and control water pollution of the Yangtze River, protect human health, protect the ecological environment, and promote the sustainable economic and social development. The text consists of 55 Articles divided into 7 Chapters: General provisions (I); Supervision and administration (II); Prevention and control of pollution (III); Drinking water source protection (IV); Legal liabilities (V); and Supplementary provisions (VI).
