The Regulations shall come into effect on 1 May 2020.
Abstract

The Regulations are enacted to protect and improve the environment, prevent and control water pollution, protect water ecology, ensure drinking water safety, maintain public health, and promote the sustainable development of economy and society. The Regulations are divided into eight Chapters: General provisions (I); Standards and planning for the prevention and control of water pollution (II); Supervision and administration of the prevention and control of water pollution (III); Measures for the prevention and control of water pollution (IV); Prevention and control of water pollution in river basins (V); Management of water pollution accidents (VI); Legal liability (VII); Supplementary provisions (VIII).
