Abstract

The present Regulation implements the Environment Quality Act (R.S.Q., c. Q-2). The purpose of the Regulation is to ensure a better knowledge and a better protection of the environment by allowing the Government to assess, through the declaration of water withdrawals, the impact of the withdrawals on water resources and ecosystems, and to allow the Government to establish measures to prevent conflicting uses of water resources. The text consists of 23 sections divided into 3 Titles as follows: General (I); Special provisions applicable to water withdrawals from the St. Lawrence River Basin (II); Penal and miscellaneous (III).
